Hi.  I recently purchased a Dell OptiPlex 760 refurb and am very pleased with it.  My intention is to only put a few programs on it and keep junk from it.  Quicken, Office 365, Turbo Tax, yahoo email, etc

I am not sure if it is related but I tried to download Adobe Flash Player to watch the NCAA basketball games.  I went thru the installation and each time I tried to play a game the message came up that I needed to install Flash Player.  I never did see it in my programs list.

Anyway, I seem to have the Search Conduit Hijacker.  It changed my home page.  I saw this and changed it back.  At the time I did not know I had the infection.  Also when I open a new tab in IE it takes me to Trovi.  McAfee doesn't let it proceed.  I have seen some sites that show how to fix it but I am afraid I may destroy some important files.  The computer seems to work OK otherwise.

I would appreciate you advice and assistance.

Joe

Helpers are limited in the number of logs they can take by the time they have available and having threads sit idle means that somebody else who could be being helped has to wait.
Given that there has been no response for at least five days, and I have no way of knowing when there will be one, this thread is now closed.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.
