Malwarebytes Anti-Malware version 2.0 was released today and contains a new user interface and additional features.  This version includes the following new/now bundled features.
  • New UI
  • Integrated Anti-rootkit and Chameleon. Rootkit scanning is not supported on drives using BitLocker.
  • Heuristics added to scanning engine
  • Name change from Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium
  • More configuration options for their Malicious Website Protection feature.
An important change for this version is that the subscription model has changed. When you purchase the premium edition it is an annual subscription rather than a lifetime subscription.  Included in the cost of this subscription, though, is protection for 3 PCs rather than just 1. For those who wish to continue using the 1.75 you can purchase a 2.0 license that can be used to activate the older version. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.75 is still available in our download section.

Our virus removal section is currently using screenshots and directions for the older version.   We will be updating the instructions in the near future to use the new 2.0 version.  We have also updated our mirror to now host both version 2.0 and version 1.75 for those who do not wish to update at this time.

Changelog for this version is:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.00.0.1000

What's New:
• Completely redesigned user interface to make the product easier to use, more informative, and providing quicker access to key functionality
• Quick Scan has been renamed to Threat Scan, our recommended scan type
• Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit integrated into the scanner (available under Detection Settings)
• Malwarebytes Chameleon driver integrated to provide self-protection for the Premium version (available under Advanced Settings)
• Enhanced version of Malicious Website Protection for Windows Vista SP2 and above (better performance, added ability to exclude processes such as BitTorrent clients from Malicious Website Protection, ability to manually exclude IP addresses and individual URLs/websites by domain name)
• Native x64 system location scanning, detection and malware removal
• Substantial improvements to core detection and removal technology

Issues Fixed:
• Performance issues when streaming audio on Vista SP2 and newer when using Malicious Website Protection should now be resolved

Admin in the discussion topic at the Malwarebytes forum said version 2.0 can be installed over the existing 1.75 version. I upgraded this way twice this afternoon without any issues.

I have been running the pre release for a month and I think it's great.

I just installed the free version of 2.0 over top of 1.75, no problems... all previous settings remained, only "problem" I noticed was old scanlogs (v1.75) were gone

Thank you for the prompt reply qm7. Yes I saw those, I was referring to the "old" logs from v1.75, those were overwritten or deleted when I installed v2.0 over top. In my case, it's not a problem cuz all my scans were clean, but for someone with "dirty" logs and/or quarantined items it could pose a problem, could it not?

Added info re scan & protection logs... they are now stored as .XML files in C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\Logs (in Win 7 x64 at least, will check my XP x86 laptop later).

For those concerned about the new "loud" UI that somewhat smacks of fake antiviruses, Malwarebytes CEO Marcin Kleczynski commented on Reddit that they're listening to feedback.

Also, asside from the various sales on retail copies of Malwarebytes that still have a Lifetime License, you can buy a limited amount directly from Malwarebytes here. (not a widely shared link, please don't repost on any front-page sites)

Yes...it appears the entire Malwarebytes Application Data / ProgramData folders and subfolders are cleaned out and recreated.

Hey there everyone.

@WhiteZero, thanks for the Eureka link - my computers are covered with the Lifetime but I've been telling everyone I know, "now is the time!" and after I updated, I thought, "well, that time has passed" but alas, there are a few left.

As for the loud interface - I have to agree.

Been volunteering with our local Boys and Girls club and when I installed the Free version today I had a moment of "oh cr*p, did I just install some adware/malware?"

I love, love, love MBAM but the new UI reeks of some thing close to Avira with it's dumb red umbrella and the "ohhnoes!" type of warnings.

I know it's new and a work in progress but my initial reaction was not a entirely pleasant one.

None the less, here we go ~ onward

Wasn't sure if I should create a New Topic or if I could post this here, but since I've installed the new MBAM I'm getting an odd pop up when ever I power down my machine.

It's so fast I had to take some video with my phone to see what it was / is and it's definitely a MBAM window but doesn't appear to have any content in the window it's self, but I get the pop up and the corresponding *ding* every time I shut off my machine.

Any else seeing / experiencing this?

Machine is a Win 7 64 bit.

Running the Pro / Premium version of MBAM along side the Free version of Avast, which is the same set up that I've been running for almost a year now.

For any issues with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 the development team recommend you start a new topic in the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Help Forum and report them there.

Hey there quietman7, thanks - that's what I figured was the answer.

Been lurking over there the past several days trying to find some one that posted something similar but thus far no luck.

Didn't really want to create another online profile but I did purchase a Lifetime license of MBAM...so I guess it kind of goes hand-in-hand.

If I get an answer / resolve over there I'll also post it here.

onward,
