Hi. Whenever I try to download and watch a video clip with Windows Media Player, it doesn't work. After it downloads, it begins to play but instead of hearing any sound or seeing the actual video, I just see the strange graphic effects that you sometimes see with screen savers or whatever. Can someone help me figure out why WMP is not working on my computer and get it to working again? Is there a new version or updates that I need to download? Maybe there's a better player out there I could install?

VLC and Winamp are my usual choices of media players and they are both free. :)

Thank you! Is there any way to fix Windows Media Player? What could have happened to it?

I don't use or prefer Windows Media Player actually. :) Depending on your windows version and or WMP, it could probably be a codec or unsupported video format that you were encountering.

BC Advisor, could you release the topic so that someone else could reply. I'm just updating this topic from my previous post to request that if any one out there is familiar with Windows Media Player and could offer support or help me to fix mine, please reply! Thank you.

Do you mean the Visualization background?

Can you post the Windows OS edition and WMP version you are running? Do you notice an arrow key switch from the lower right section of WMP?

Do you see the square icons with left arrow key when you hover arrow key on the upper right of WMP when in visualization mode? This can switch you back to Library mode by pressing down that key. This is for Windows 7 WMP ver.12.

Is it the same image posted with just the different background you refer to? Can you post a screenshot? http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/43088/how-to-capture-and-edit-a-screen-shot/
