Good morning,

First of all, thank you so much for any help that you can give. I really appreciate it!

I have a Windows 8.1 ASUS S56CA that has recently been experiencing multiple issues:

1. The ASUS boot screen will hang for about 3-5 minutes before booting to Windows.
2. After normal use, BSOD crash with the Windows 8 “ :(“ and DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.

There have been no major changes to the hardware, software or drivers to cause this error.

So far, I have attempted:

1. Windows Update
2. Flash newest version of ASUS BIOS
3. Try to update drivers using Device Manager
4. Malware Scan

I am attaching below my Minidumps, a Speccy snapshot and the Minitoolbox output.

Any help with resolving this issue or at least narrowing down what the issue might be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Evening guys!

I hope that you all are well - I looked all around but could not find any forum rules on bumping, so please feel free to delete this if it is against forum rules.

Since I posted this on Sunday, I have noticed that the BSOD only occurs when waking from sleep/hibernation, but otherwise I am still having this issue and was wondering if anyone would mind taking a look at my uploads and possibly seeing if they could identify what driver is causing this. Thanks!

Hi

Sorry for the late reply. Your BSOD issue seems to be caused by Intel storage driver which is very common among Ultrabook models. I have seen this exact BSOD on several Asus models and most of them needed an OS re-installation to fix it. However i would suggest updating the storage driver to the latest revision as the first step. Please download and install the driver setup from the below link.

Hi Anshad,

Thank you so much for your help - unfortunately, the computer is still BSOD-ing even after the install of the driver. Am I correct in assuming that the next step would then be to re-install Windows or is there something less drastic that I could still do? Thanks!

There might be other steps but it is beyond my knowledge. Ultrabooks uses a special type of RAID which uses a small SSD disk as a cache between HDD and MoBo. The issue does have something to do with this setup but i am unable to find the exact cause.
