I want to change my existing ATI Radeon 9000 series card to ATI Radeon 9250. The only difference between them is a bit more ram.

I uninstalled the existing card via Device Manager and Add/Remove programs. I removed the card and replaced it with the later version. Using the latest drivers/software for installation, I get messages that it cannot complete the installation.

In Device Manager, there is a mark against VIA cpu - AGP controller which relates to 'not enough resources'. I disabled fdd and raid controllers but the installation had the same fault. I used Driver Update to check through my system drivers.

The system is one I built 12 years ago. Gigabyte GA-7VR mobo, AMD XP2100 cpu (1.7GHz), 3GB's ddr ram, running on WINXP HOME SP3, with all updates current.

Anybody got an idea what's causing the problem?

Hi Abauw, the listing for Ati Radeon 9250 is not in Device Manager. Display only shows a standard vga listing.

I have collated the screen shots as listed below.

Hi Abauw,

I cannot find a listing for Display Adapter in Device Manager. I send a screenshot of this.

Am I looking in the right place?

Ray
