issue: slow proformance in os
oem: e-machine el-1600
os: xp home sp3

found that cause seems to be C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Application Data\Yfbievid\fedeenk.exe witch has multiple instances that is spikeing the cpu, able to close out in processes tab in task manager but re-occurs

unable to delete file

unable to boot to safe mode

clean boot seems to work, but file remains enabled even after disableing all start up items

attempted to edit file out of registry after create restore point

unable to change permissions on folder to make it not read only

file listed in single user account attempted to delete user account, succedded but process re-appeaered

ran a spybot scan after updateding, no change

unable to delete file after booting to another os on a live cd

booted to recovery console unable to access documents and settings

ran check disk, no change

with being unable to delete the file and unbale to boot to safemode, along w/unable to access windows update, and the auto update and firewall constantly turning off it would appear i am almost out of ideas except for nukeing the install

so does any one know what else i might be able to try?

Hi -

As you seem to have no answers from the other sites, here are a few questions.

Are you 100% sure that you have got the spelling correct ??

What Operating Systems have been installed on that computer (I got 1 hit for Linux) ??

Is this constant or just at rare times ??

I am unable to find C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Application Data\Yfbievid\fedeenk.exe on my XP.

When did this start ??

Autoruns -
Download  Autoruns
Extract (unzip) to desktop and launch autoruns.exe
Allow the scan to fully finish
Now click on FILE > SAVE
Use > Filename: Autoruns.txt - Save as Type :Text
Copy and Paste the contents of text here
