I have run spybot, spyware doctor, ad-aware, web-sweeper, norton, avg.
Surfsidekick keeps returning. I have tried several scans with these programs, both regular and safe mode. I have msconfig the startup items (ssk keeps returning on restart).
Thanks in advance.

Let's get rid of SurfSideKick first and then the rest. :thumbsup:

=====================================

You may want to print out these instructions or save it as a text document, and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding. Please make sure that you follow this in the right order as I have listed.

=====================================

Click Start Control Panel Add/Remove Programs, and then remove the following program/s (if present):
  • Surf Sidekick 3
It may prompt about whether or not you are sure you want to remove this program. Reply Yes to this prompt.

=====================================

If there is no Add/Remove Programs entry for that programs, click on Start Run and type in:

C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\Ssk.exe /u

Then click OK. A code will be displayed that it will ask you to enter. Please enter this code and reboot. Once back to your desktop continue with the rest of the fix.

=====================================

Please open HijackThis, click Do a system scan only, and then place a checkmark beside each of these entries:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {02EE5B04-F144-47BB-83FB-A60BD91B74A9} - C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\SskBho.dll

After placing all the checkmarks, close all windows (except HJT), and then hit Fix Checked. When it finishes, exit HJT.

=====================================

Show Hidden Files and Folders

Click Start My Computer Tools Folder Options. Select the View tab.
  • Check - Show hidden files and folders
  • Uncheck - Hide file extensions for known types
  • Uncheck - Hide protected operating system files
Click Yes to confirm, then OK to exit.

=====================================

Reboot into Safe Mode
  • Restart your computer.
  • Before the Windows logo appear, tap F8 repeatedly.
  • A menu should appear, select Safe Mode from the menu using your arrow keys and then hit Enter on your keyboard.
  • This will take a while than usual, so just wait.
=====================================

Delete this folder (if found) :

C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\

=====================================

Restart your computer

=====================================

Please download the following regfile to your desktop. When it is finished downloading, double-click on it and confirm with Yes when it asks if you would like to merge the data with registry.

Fixssk.reg

=====================================

In your next reply, please include these log(s):
