Hey guys I was on my mother's PC a few days ago and noticed that there were multiple popups occurring and notices coming up saying Flash/Java needs to be updated. Also, I noticed some software was installed for registry fixes etc. The next day my mother told me she could not access the internet and I noticed that the malware had changed the settings in all browsers to run off a proxy server and I changed the setting back to the defaults which solved the problem. I had more time to examine it today so I attempted to shut down any processes that were not essential and rebooted the computer in attempt to enter a recovery partition or even safe mode. I was unable to boot into either of these and now when the computer powers on it is stuck at a completely black screen. I need some help fixing this.

My mother's computer is running Windows 8 64-bit

Please advise me further is solving this for her. Thanks!

Thank you.

Yes the computer will not boot up. It just hangs at a black screen when the power is on.
