Cannot install any hardware drivers at all...

First time posting, I've tried almost everything, from taking out my battery, windows update, updating my bios, uninstalling my USB drivers, can't figure out the problem. Can't get my ipod, my phone, my xbox or any hardware driver to install. They all used to work fine but I think the problem is that I have used my laptop for work and installed too many drivers/devices (testing/charging) and I don't know how to fix it. One day my laptop just stopped recognizing devices, Its time to admit defeat unless anyone out there can save me from a complete windows reinstall. Windows 7 please help!!!!

What works in many cases is to go into control panel, then delete the suspect items one at a time and reboot.  Windows is pretty good at putting its drivers back, you may have to do a couple of associated ones.

Tried that. I've uninstalled the Xbox about 20 times no luck, and my Motorola (Razr) just comes up as an unknown device, which I have tried to uninstall numerous times. I also tried to update the driver, it tells me I have the most recent driver, but then tells me ones not installed. I tried uninstalling all the hidden devices, then all the serial bus controllers to no avail. I have a hunch that i need to fool around with the registry keys but I have no experience with that. I was hoping i could use some sort of utility to explain whats going on with my system but I honestly don't know how to decipher the information

Download USBdview and uninstall any vendor specific device that has been attached and is not connected. You may have to reinstall any driver for that device.

Please post the computer model next time.

 

Try downloading Speccy and then install the program.  To post and publish a snapshot of your PC.
. In the Menu bar, click File -> Publish Snapshot
. Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
. On your next reply, right-click on a empty space and click Paste on reply box then click Post.

 

Download MiniToolBox and run the program. Select
List Last 10 Event Viewers, List Installed Programs and List Users, Partitions and Memory Size then click Go.
A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

Run System File Check for Windows 7 then follow up with Startup Repair and post of any found unrepaired files.

Can you remove completely first your Antivirus then follow up with all instances of USB devices driver/software not being recognized in your computer? Use USBDeview to remove all generic related product pertaining to these devices just in case then download or install them one at a time then inserting one usb device. See of any improvements or changes.

Did the uninstall and I think I got rid of all the drivers, no dice. Any other ways I can run a diagnostic in hopes of displaying a recognizable problem>

Anything USB still plugged in, mouse, keyboard, flash or remote drive?  Double check hardware in control panel.
