Hi

I have this monitor that's pretty old, it's a Westinghouse monitor from a few years ago. It's pretty old, and is it possible that it's incompatible with my new gaming PC when I connect HDMI? Connecting VGA works, but not HDMI, the monitor just says something about being incompatible, and I think going through VGA really burns up my graphics card.

Most likely the computer is putting out a higher resolution over HDMI and your monitor cannot handle it.  You'd have to check your manuals to see what the default HDMI resolution is.  As dicke suggested, it might be time for a new monitor.
