Hello, I am using an Alienware M17-R1 computer with Windows 7.  Lately I've noticed a lot of (what I believe to be) graphics-related freezes.

When these happen, my only option is to turn the computer off and back on.

The event viewer shows thess errors:

Windows Logs ( System)

-The McAfee Inc. mfeapfk service failed to start due to the following error:
Indicates two revision levels are incompatible.

Windows Logs (Application)

-Unloading the performance counter strings for service WmiApRpl (WmiApRpl) failed. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the error code.

-The performance strings in the Performance registry value is corrupted when process Performance extension counter provider. The BaseIndex value from the Performance registry is the first DWORD in the Data section, LastCounter value is the second DWORD in the Data section, and LastHelp value is the third DWORD in the Data section.

Administrative Events

-Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x00225F3A878C.  The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

-Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D

Several:

- The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.

- Audit events have been dropped by the transport.  0

- The previous system shutdown at 10:13:54 AM on ‎3/‎12/‎2014 was unexpected.

- The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

I would GREATLY appreciate any and all help you can give me to keep this from happening again.

Thanks in advance!

Additionally...

Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  When  FileHippo opens, click on Download latest version in the upper right pane.

When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.

It looks like you need to rebuild Microsoft-Windows-LoadPerf.

The instructions that the link will take you to states that this is for Windows Sever, but the instruction work for Windows 7 as well.

You can find these instructions at Windows Server.

I didn't see the Speccy until I had finished my last post.

It looks like you hdd is failing.  The S.M.A.R.T. is showing a Warning and has given the following information.

C5 Current Pending Sector Count: 100 (100) Data 0000000027

C6 Uncorrectable Sector Count: 100 (100) Data 0000000027

I would suggest backing up all of your important data to a removable source of media and plan on replacing the hdd as soon as possible.  I would not depend on this hdd to store important data.

It looks like the download for the Harddisk Sentinel is a zip file, you will need a program like 7-zip to extract the file/s.

Also do what dc3 suggests you.If McAfee is some kind of protection is not good, because you have another Security Suite.

Which security suite are you referring to? I know it's never a good idea to have two anti virus programs running, but I'm only aware of McAfee
