Hello,

I have done a search of this forum and I have found nothing. I have had a reoccurring BSOD that states system_service_exception (nfps.sys). I have run memtest. I did a google search and found nothing. I looked at the dump in bluescreenviewer.  I have attached the output file for this program.

I am perplexed. I don't know what other information I can provide.

Windows 8.1 Pro

Intel 4670k (stock)

12 gigs Ram (Patriot and Corsair)

750 watt PSU

PNY GTX 770

I tried using "driver mechanic" but it wont even run. Happens when I am playing a game. I recently updated video drivers and it was happening with the old ones and the new ones.

EDIT: it wont let me upload the mini dump

Attached Files

:welcome: to the forum mate.

Please follow the below steps.

:step1: Upload the actual crash dump files.

You will find the crash dump files inside C:\Windows\Minidump folder. To copy the dumps, disable "User Account Control" first. Otherwise you may receive a permission error. After disabling UAC, copy and zip all the dumps and create an archive. Either attach the zip with next reply using "More reply options --> Attach files" or use a free file hosting site.

:step2: Publish a snapshot of your system using Speccy.

"Speccy" is a free tool which can list the hardware specs, temperature status, installed Windows updates, HDD SMART info etc of your system. Please read the below tutorial to know how to use "Speccy" to collect system info.

Don't paste the output displayed by "Speccy" here. Instead paste the web link it displays.

:step3: Minitoolbox log.

"Minitoolbox" can list all the installed programs as well as event log errors in your system. Download "Minitoolbox" from the below link.

Run the tool and only select the following tick boxes.

List last 10 Event viewer errors
List installed program
List users, partition and memory size
List Minidumps

Now click "Go" and post the output displayed in next reply.

Hi

It looks like all the crashes happened only when you play games. Which game is causing issues for you ?. Are you using FRAPS to record games at the time of crashes ?. If not, can you reproduce the BSOD by doing a specific task?.

Btw, you should disable Driver Verifier before doing any other steps. You can enter Verifier /Reset in an elevated command prompt to stop verification of drivers. You should also update your Saitek Gamers keyboard driver as it appears to be very old  from 2008 ).

Also uninstall Speedfan and MSI afterburner at least as a test. Drivers used by those programs are known to cause BSOD. You can re-install them after the issue is resolved.

I actually disabled the verifier already, that created its own issue. I will try your suggestions. Specifically caused by shadowrun returns, but it has not happen today. Nothing specific seems to precede the BSOD.

Thank you,

Tim
