I got the nickname (sobriquet) Dr. Crunch from my ability to produce rapid prototypes during my
career as a software engineer. I retired in 1999. I am a veteran of the vacuum tube era, having started
at Burroughs Corp. (now part of Unisys) in 1956. I wrote thousands of lines of programs for the Burroughs
204 and 205 in, I kid you not, absolute -- we didn't have assemblers or compilers. If anyone is interested in
these computers, contact me. P.S. I also have an earned doctorate from Northwestern U.

Wow, you've seen a lot of change. My history with computers doesn't really start until the introduction of the Tandy pc in 1978 or so. We thought our Physics department head was nuts to spend so much money on a box that said "Thinking" and took a long time to do what a calculator could.
