My computer has had several problem within the past month or so. Recently it has been having shutdown issues, sometimes when I attempt to shut down it gets stuck at the shutdown page and eventually BSODs. I also have been having a problem when I start up my computer there is a brief black screen (5-15 seconds) before it goes to the login page. Last, when I am online the internet will randomly freeze up for around 10 seconds when attempting to load a new page or refresh (happens every 15 minutes or so.) I am assuming all of these problems have a common cause and if anybody could help me that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You say this is a problem of the last month or so. As a simple first step, try doing a System restore to a date before your troubles began.

Click 'Start - Control panel - Recovery - Start system restore'. After one or two intermediate screens you will come to a screen which says 'Select restore point' and will usually list one or two, the most recent ones. Below, on the left, there is a button 'Additional restore points'. Click this and, from the list that appears, select one that dates from before these problems started. then click 'Start restore'. After a warning screen that this is non-reversible it will start the restore. This normally takes up to five minutes, just let it run. It may then ask you to re-boot the computer. If it doesn't, do so anyway.

If this cures your problems, great; if it doesn't, post back. After the restore - which only affects the operating system and not your data - you will need to re-install any updates which have been supplied since the date of the restore point. As it may be one of these updates that caused the problem,it is a good idea to install them one at a time and testing the computer between each update. If you find that an update did cause the problem, then you will know which one it was and can uninstall it.

Ok, just to make sure. Restoring my PC won't affect any of my data? Will anything be rolled back that I may not want?

OK. This is now the 12th March, let us say you pick a restore date of 12th February.

Your operating system will be rolled back to the condition it was in on the 12th Feb; any Windows updates that have been installed since the 12th Feb will effectively be deleted - and will need to be re-installed. It is possible that any software / applications you have installed since the 12th Feb may also be uninstalled and you may need to re-install them before you can access any work you did with them.

Your data - documents, spreadsheets, photos, music, whatever - will NOT be affected by using a restore point.

Using a restore point to restore Windows to a condition it was in before a fault condition occurred is a normal and standard maintenance practice. Like everything else in this life, it does not work every time because the problem may be caused by something which the restore system is not designed to resolve, but it will not affect your data. Go ahead, give it a go, it may well solve your problem and it is a safe procedure. If it doesn't work, post back and I, or others, will try to come up with another solution.

hi! :hello: if system restore does not work for your problem, would you mind just following these below steps

Upload the actual crash dump files.

You will find the crash dump files inside C:\Windows\Minidump folder. To copy the dumps, disable "User Account Control" first. Otherwise you may receive a permission error. After disabling UAC, copy and zip all the dumps using 7-zip ( http://www.7-zip.org ). Either attach the zip with next reply using "More reply options --> Attach files" or use a free file hosting site.

For example -> http://www.mediafire.com/

Publish a snapshot of your system using Speccy.

Please follow the below tutorial to know how to use "Speccy" to collect system info.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/323892/publish-a-snapshot-using-speccy/

Don't paste the output displayed by "Speccy" here. Instead paste the web link it displays.

 Minitoolbox log.

Download "Minitoolbox" from the below link.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/minitoolbox/

Run the tool and only select the following tick boxes.

List last 10 Event viewer errors
List installed program
List users, partition and memory size
List Minidumps

Now click "Go" and post the output displayed in next reply.

hello, thanks for the info, but you seem to have missed uploading the crash dump files. if you would please follow that first step and upload them as they are very important for analysis.

Error: (03/02/2014 03:04:37 AM) (Source: BugCheck) (User: )  this could indicate a driver issue

Description: 0x0000009f

Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver (Version: 7.44.421.2011) update this realtek driver

also, just as a test please uninstall/disable utorrent from startup while we try and figure out what is causing you crashes. you could always get it back later if you choose.

Java 7 Update 25 (64-bit) (Version: 7.0.250) also i believe this java is outdated, that can be a major security risk. https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/release_dates.xml

please upload the crash dump files as soon as you can. instruction to do that is in my initial post.

To add to what Acerts said, you can also safely uninstall the Apple Bonjour software unless you have a need to print to an Apple Air printer. It is software that is bundled with, typically, iTunes software, and if you don't use an Apple printer you don't need it, and it is known to cause problems.

Euro Truck Simulator !  I'm into simulators myself, but this is one that never took my fancy because I know what it is for real. I spent nearly half my working life driving heavies, with a fair chunk of it on the Continent. The problem is that a motorway in Belgium is very similar to a motorway in Italy, and an industrial estate in Zagreb is very similar to one in Birmingham. I enjoyed it though.

Yea I enjoyed it too, being from the U.S. it's interesting driving through Europe.

I also uninstalled Bonjour.

Thanks for the input!

let us know if any of the above input helps with your crashes. also clean out your nvidia graphics drivers and get the latest ones, i am pretty sure your current ones are up to date, but wouldnt hurt to check and refresh anyway

also, do youhave an overclock or any tweaking done to hardware at all?

i will get you analyzing your crash dumps as soon as possible

I tried overclocking when I first got this PC, around 8 months or so ago, and I haven't done it since. My CPU and GPU are both running at stock settings.

Thanks.

Hmm ok did you load optimized defaults after you were tweaking things? If not do that in bios immediately as it might be contributing to the crashes
