I have a 2008 Dell Vostro 3500, I have installed an SSD in it a few month ago and it was working great for a while. Lately it just starting dying on me. While working, the fan will be working loud and eventually it will just turn off with no warning.

Any Idea on how I can fix this?

If the fan is running at max then it suggests an overheating problem.  Check that the ventilation slots are clear of dust/debris by blowing short bursts of compressed air through each area until no more dust/debris comes out.

Please download and run Speccy.  Once the scan has completed:

  1. Click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box.  Copy the URL to the clipboard, and paste it in your next post.

Is this happening when the adapter is connected?

Is the battery getting a full charge?

Have you replaced either the adapter or battery recently?

It doesn't always turn off so I will place the Speccy snapshot once it does,

It happens either connected or not and it gets fully charged with original battery however it should be replaced by now.

I will try cleaning the fans. Is that something a computer store should have?

If you took this computer to a repair shop because of overheating issue, yes... they should have cleaned the interior.

Either a computer store or an office supply store should stock it. It's often called air duster or sprayduster.

In my haste I misread your post.

Most hardware stores now carry these products, Staples and Office Depot carry some, I've even seen it in Rite Aide.
