Hi, please see this Microsoft link if not already done.

Download then run Farbar Service Scanner and checkmark all boxes.
Click Scan and then a Notepad text will open. Copy-Paste the report on your next reply.

Hello jayhz, I visited the link you provided and ran Fix MSI software, Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool.

Then I ran Microsoft .NET Framework Cleanup Tool, restarted my PC and installed The .NET Framework 1.1, The .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the 3.5 option didn't seem to install. restarted once more, but I still get a failed update message. Here is the Farbar log you requested...

The .NET Framework 1.1, The .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the 3.5 option didn't seem to install. restarted once more, but I still get a failed update message.

Logs looks fine. This failed update is by Windows Update, I presume? What error particularly is pointing to the failed updates?

Download MiniToolBox and open/run the program.
When open, checkmark or select all options then click Go.
A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

Yes, Windows Update. There are two important updates available right now...

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 for Windows 7 x64-based Systems (KB2858725)
Update for Skype for Windows desktop 6.11 (KB2876229)

Concerning optional updates, I also can't download MSE definitions.

I tried to update one item at a time, trying to isolate the problem but it still doesn't work.

Here is the MiniToolBox log you requested, I removed information related to my router, ip, an mac address. I hope this doesn't affect how you interpret the log, if so please let me know....

Hi, please restart Windows update and BITS (Background Intelligence Transfer) services.

> Hit Start orb - type services.msc - Enter.

> Look for Windows Update and click Disable (Apply) then do this also with BITS. Next, enable on default settings both services by Automatic (Delayed) - Apply.

> Check your Internet Time is synchronize or use time.windows.com by going to Clock and Date settings - Internet time tab.
