Okay anybody else seeing something less than benign going on here...

Facebook buys Whats App messaging service and it's 450 million and counting user base.

Now is in talks to buy UAV/drone maker Titan Aerospace.

Facebook, one of the primary backers of the Internet.org initiative, which aims to bring affordable Internet access to the 5 billion people in the world who still lack connectivity, is in talks with a company that could help further that agenda. TechCrunch is hearing that Facebook is buying Titan Aerospace, makers of near-orbital, solar-powered drones which can fly for five years without needing to land. According to a source with access to information about the deal, the price for this acquisition is $60 million*.

Interesting.. Appears to be a loooong term play for profitability.

I'd say the same, although whatsapp's purchase doesn't strike me as unusual, more of a play to remove competition I would think. The drones on the other hand.. that's interesting.

I read about this in the paper a few weeks ago. I don't much like Facebook, but this is a neat idea. We'll be able to talk, game and troll new people like never before!
