Vaio E Series Latop, running Windows 8
Not mine but trying to fix it for a friend.......
Attempted to download and install MalwareBytes & AVG Free, no luck. Entered safe mode, was able to download both, installed same.
Ran MalwareBytes, removed 425 issues. Ran again, clean.
Installed AVG Free, removed 15 issues, ran again, clean.
I have attempted to download a few other programs with no luck. The box that appears above the task bar has the following options: Open, Save (with dropdown) and cancel. Open does nothing, Save, save as and save & open do nothing. Cancel does nothing.
Thought maybe the problem was with startup programs, so I tried this:
- Click Start and type msconfig in the Search box.
One the ‘General’ tab, click ‘Selective startup’, then click to clear the ‘Load startup items’ checkbox.
Click ‘Services’ tab, click ‘Hide all Microsoft services’, and then click ‘Disable all’.
Click OK, then click Restart.
After the computer restarts, try to run your program installation.
No luck, same as before, no option to run the install.....
