I had contracted a virus on this machine.  Its running win xp sp2.  After reloading the operating system and the drivers from the toshiba site,  I found out that the computer does not connect wirelessly to my netgear router, which is a wireless router.  I downloaded all the wifi drivers from that site (there are 4) but none of them seem to work.  My computer can see the router, but when I try to connect by putting in the password, I get a message 'The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration....'  how can i fix this

Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (in Vista and 7, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).

In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
net stop "dns client"
net start "dns client"

hi condobloke,

And doing those steps will make the wireless work again?  I read somewhere that the computer is looking for wep security and not the wpa2 security that the router is set up with, and that the cause for the error message of 'The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration....'

Ill try out your suggestions although I dont see how it changes anything.  Do you know2 what can be causing that message to appear

The steps i gave you will do no harm.

If you are still having problems    read HERE

Worthy of note that this problem has been solved elsewhere by installing SP3
