I was planning on using Windows XP 64-Bit for offline work. I've already tried using it on an HP and it worked. All the software that I installed worked. The only thing missing was the audio because there was no audio driver for it. :(

Has anyone installed it on either the Dell Optiplex 760 or 780 (SFF or USFF)? If yes, did it work properly?

Hi -

Louis will correct me on this, if in any way I have misread the situation.

I do not think you can use the same XP install CD on a DELL and a HP.

His link is the best that you will get, but you may not have a DELL Service Tag etc.

DELL computers are usually set up to only use their own install CD and a HP install CD often will just not work.

The 2 items  > Enter Service Tag and Analyze System for Updates are specific to DELL only.

If the driver link hamluis does not work for you try the following links.

Note that the driver for XP64 on the 760 is an older driver (v.5.10.x.5851, A07). I believe Dell dropped X64bit from the audio driver on the later version (v.5.10.1.7255, A10).

The audio driver for XP64 on the 780 is actually dated later than the one for the 760 (v.5.10.2.7270, A12) This may also work for the 760.

I just needed more information on the Dell Optiplex because I want to install Windows XP 64bit on it. But from the responses I got, I definitely will. :thumbup2:

I just mentioned the HP because it was a test run on my friends pc to see if it worked. And it did with the exception to the audio, there were no audio drivers for it. My mistake, I should've been more clear.
