I have windows XP and sweat security everyday while surfing but what I want to know is what in general is good for security?  I have malwarebytes and Microsoft securtiy essentials.  Is this good enough?  What else would I need for prevention and removal if it happens anyway?  Thanks for any help in advance.

:welcome: to Bleeping Computer.

MSE and Malwarebytes is a good combination but you will get a variety of different opinions as some folks do not like MSE. I would recommend adding SpywareBlaster and WinPatrol. You may want to read these two topics which discuss other options and tools that you can use along with what you have now.
