For the past week or so my computer has had trouble shutting down. Usually at night I shut my computer down and reboot it the next morning. Lately, my computer has been freezing at shutdown and I'm pretty sure it eventually goes to a BSOD. When I reboot and login I get a message saying "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown." Does anybody know what is going on?

Thanks.

Several STOP 9F errors, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff559329(v=vs.85).aspx .

My guess would be the video/graphics drivers.  Assuming that they are damaged...I would uninstall, then reinstall them.  I don't know anything about HyperSLI but it seems to me that it could be corrupting your video drivers.

Your Java version is outdated, increasing system vulnerability.

Louis

Ok, I reinstalled my drivers and reinstalled HyperSLI. I hope that works.

Thanks,

Matt

Sorry, for taking so long to respond. I thought that updating the drivers had fixed the problem; however, last night I clicked shut down and went to bed expecting the computer to shut down. When I woke up I found that my computer was on and it was at the login screen. When I logged in I got the same error as before.

Thanks,

Matt

Update: It seems that the problems shutting down are intermittent. It seems that every other time I shut it down it works fine then the other times I get the error.

Thanks,

Matt

Shutdown issues have a myriad of causes...and they afflict every version of Windows.

Be patient and see if anyone else here has any ideas on steps that may assist in resolving your situation.
