I just bought a new hard drive for my Dell Inspiron 518.

Anyways, there is a exclamation point yellow icon beside the SM Bus Controller under Other Devices.

Does anyone know how I can fix that?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section

Hi, If this is Your Windows drive that would seem to indicate You did not load all the drivers.

This would be the Dell page for them. http://www.dell.com/support/my-support/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-518/drivers

You will have to select the Operating System and Whether or not it is 32bit or 64bit. It seems they have drivers for Windows Vista 32Bit and 64Bit.

If that is not the OS, what are You installing?

Good Luck

Roger

BTW what OS, I think You would do better in the proper OS forum.

I have 64bit Vista

I am on the drivers and downloads page now for 64bit.

I am not sure what I need to download.

You could go here and Let Dell do it for You.

Analyze System for Service Tag
May the Dell Driver Analyze Utility automatically detect your Service Tag?

Dell can use your service tag to automatically detect important information about your system, enabling us to:

Determine whether or not your system is still covered under warranty

  • Find compatible drivers and utilities for your product
  • Provide you with relevant articles and self-help topics

Dell will treat the data we collect in accordance with Dell's privacy statement. You can choose the relevant privacy statement here. After reading the disclosure above, if you wish to conduct the scan, please click "Yes, I agree” to proceed with the scan. If you do not wish to conduct the scan, please click "No, I do not agree". Support resources are still available for you at http://support.dell.com

May we detect your service tag now?

I would click "Yes, I agree"

It should then do its magic.

Good Luck

Roger
