Can someone please tell me why i get this message when trying to update some drivers please. Windows cannot check for updates. The service is not running. You may have to restart your computer, which i tried but still get the same message. thanks.

One of 2 reasons you're receiving this message....either the service is turned off or the servers are down. I've run into the later one on several occasions.

Have you made any hardware changes such as replacing the hard drive?

The "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running" (and other errors) is a common issue after replacing a hard drive, especially if the new drive is larger than the one it replaced and is an Advanced Format drive.
