Hi there,

I bought a secondhand S4 the other day. It all seems to work fine, wifi, 3g, texts, calls - but the internal storage, which originally came up as mostly empty in the settings (as you'd expect), after downloading a few apps becomes totally full. Like, can't stream a video cos you don't have the space full. The settings screen shows it as having negative free space.

I've got a 32GB SD card coming so it'll be okay, but what gives? Where has all the space gone to?

Thanks for reading

If this is a 16GB S4 you only have 8GB free right out of the box.

http://www.extremetech.com/computing/154594-the-galaxy-s4-16gb-has-just-8-8gb-of-free-space-when-will-device-makers-stop-lying

But even with a factory reset you should have 8.8GB Available for downloading your apps. I would try another factory reset and then see if you can get DiskUsage app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage&hl=en

That will tell you exactly what is using all your space.

If that doesn't work you have a defective handset it appears.

I got diskusage, it shows like 300MB total space for apps....looks like I might have been ripped off. We'll see how it goes when my micro SD arrives I guess! thanks for your help
