I hope that I'm reporting my problem in the correct forum,
if not, please direct me to the correct one.
MS OUTLOOK 2007 (12.0.6680.5000)
XP Prof 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600
Both AVG IS 2014 and Bandwidth Meter Pro show that e-mail arrives,
but what comes in today, I only get to see tomorrow.
My PC has been infected with a trojan - which I'd not detected soon enough -
in 2013 I'd neglected to let AVG IS 2013 do regular virus scans.
With MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware Pro (paid version),
it looks as if I've managed to kill off (most of) the effects of the trojan -
except for this nuisance effect in OUTLOOK 2007:
Rogue internet traffic (as reported on the graphs of Bandwidth Meter Pro)
has been reduced VERY much - what remains still looks suspicious, but could be from other sources.
TCPView reports 64 occurrences of "avgemcx.exe"
all at PID 3540, Protocol UDP, and local address ranging from 1096 to 65518.
No other unaccounted-for programs reported there.
This PC has been donated to me - the installation disks are not available.
I've downloaded DSS.com and Combofix and could generate reports when needed.
Thanks for advice which may help solve my problem
