Hello

I have an almost new Lenovo Thinkpad E530 laptop, that came with Win 8 64 bit, seldom used because i hated the new OS , upgrading to Win 8.1  did not improve things but i can live with it  if i can have a decent sound & can broadcast/play music online..

For this i need  stereo mixer , today downloaded and installed the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver from Lenovo  but i  can  not access it.

When i go to the program folder & right click on it, i get the "uninstall" option , thats it

I also have Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver & Realtek PCIE Card Reader installed..  as well as the Conextant HD audio the laptop came with..

There might be a conflict or i need to uninstall/disable the Conexant Audio.. but i'm not sure .

I would appreciate some help on how to solve this issue !

Thanks in advance !

That is because it installs as a Service.  There should be a Control Property shortcut titled "Realtek HD Audio Manager".  If not, go to http://www.realtek.com.tw/DOWNLOADS/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false and download the Realtek driver for Windows 8.1.  I always use US2 for the server nearest to me, since it is the fastest for where I am at.

as well as the Conextant HD audio the laptop came with..

If your audio device is Conexant, then what are you trying to do by installing Realtek driver ?. If you are unaware, "Realtek" driver or it's control panel won't work with third party hardware.

Well..

like i mentioned in my original post i want a stereo mixer , but Conexant audio doesnt have that feature ,

only mic & speakers.

I have Realtek sound on my desktop thats perfect for all my audio needs and i'd like to have similar setup on the laptop.

If you can suggest an add on , codec or whatever to achieve this with the Conexant i'm happy to try it.

Hi

As far as i know, there is no simple fix exists. An internet search shows most Conexant chips actually supports "Stereo Mix" but we need to install a modded driver to enable it. The same can also be done by editing registry and changing some values. Please export a copy of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class branch and attach with the next reply. If you don't know how to do it, please follow the below steps.

1. Download and save the below batch file.

    http://www.bleepstatic.com/fhost/uploads/2/reg-export.cmd

2. Run the batch and it will export the necessary keys to your desktop in the name Class.Reg

3. Compress the file using 7-zip and attach with next reply using "More Reply Options --> Attach files".

Hi again

Thanks for  the response., attached a copy  of the requested entries...

ops it wont allow me to upload Winrar , any way to get around  this ?

I did find a page regarding this issue and attempted to follow it ,

First when i tried to show "disabled devices"  stereo mix did not appear..

next went to the registry , located the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000

but after that i couldnt find "Settings\EPattributes"

I guess it could be the diff OS , isntructions are for Win7..

Also asked Lenovo tech support regarding this, they suggested i try the path above..

but if it didnt work i could uninstall the Conexant software and go with Realtek.

Any thoughts on this ?

As i said earlier, you can only install and use "Realtek" driver if "Realtek" hardware is present. Please export the reg key as i requested and i will check whether it is possible to modify it.

Hi

Please try the below steps.

1. Create a "System restore Point" as an insurance.

    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4690-restore-point-create-windows-8-a.html

2. Download and double click  on the below Reg file to enable "Stereo Mix" ( hopefully).

    http://www.bleepstatic.com/fhost/uploads/2/enable-sterio.reg

Reboot the system when completed and report whether it helped or not.

I have about the same problem. Stereo mix will not appear when I request disabled recording devices. I am attaching a file per your previous instructions.
