Windows 8 computer freeze after login....

Recently started having problems with computer freeze. Starts ok goes thru Bios check, Windows startup screen appears then after a couple of minutes computer freezes Also after a couple of restarts computer returns to normal operation? Ran anti-virus Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes both show no infection...

The timing of the freeze makes me think it's a driver issue. Are all your drivers up to date? Everything good in Device Manager? No conflicts?


You could also download and run Autoruns to see if you're missing a driver somewhere.


EDIT: Forgot to add that you definitely should check the Event Log for any record of this. I'd look in the System event log.

Try running Safe Mode with Networking for an hour or so to see if this is occurring in Safe Mode.


Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  When  FileHippo opens, click on Download latest version in the upper right pane.
When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.
Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.
The following screen will appear, click on Yes.
The following screen will appear, click on Copy to Clipboard.
In your next post right click inside the Reply to Topic box, then click on Paste.  This will load a link to the Speccy log.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
 Checkmark the following checkboxes:
• List last 10 Event Viewer log
• List Installed Programs
• List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
• List Minidump Files
 Click on Go to start the scan.  Once it is finished highlight the text, copy it and paste it in your next post.
