I worked on a friends PC that had some major problems. When I first got the PC, I was able to get to Services.msc, and there were no services in the list at all. So I did a repair install, updated all the patches, installed firewall, virus, and spyware protection, and removed a virus. I got everything back working, I think, except DHCP. I looked in the services, and the DHCP client is not listed. I manually put in an IP address, and it got on the Internet fine, so it's not a hardware problem. How do I install the DHCP client service?

She has XP Home Edition.

Have you tried "Create a New Connection" from Network Connections in the Control Panel?
