It must be a Windows thing, I have  a Dell Inspiron, Windows Vista Home Premium OS  that is acting up. I am on the web, all of a sudden I get a BSOD,  the computer turns off and then it reboots normally and I am able to get back online. Is it me or is there a definite problem with Windows OS? Any advice as to how i can solve this problem?

How frequent has the BSOD occuring?

Download  BlueScreenView.exe file and run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and attach it to your next reply.

Download MiniToolBox and open/run the program.
When open, checkmark or select all options then click Go.
A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

You mentioned that this happens only when you are browsing online. From these logs it looks like you are using Mozilla Firefox which have generated many errors. My suggestion is to either try a different web browser (IE or Chrome) and see if the crashes still happen or to uninstall and then re-install Firefox.

I saw that , strange, because I rarely used Firefox and the crashes has occurred with both IE and Chrome.

Is it a newly reinstalled Windows Vista? Did you install the correct and latest drivers? Was there a previous antivirus installed? Please remove outdated Java from your system first then install free Microsoft Security Essentials.

Additional scans needed :

Try downloading Speccy and then install the program.  To post and publish a snapshot of your PC.
. In the Menu bar, click File -> Publish Snapshot
. Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
. On your next reply, right-click on a empty space and click Paste on reply box then click Post.

Try clearing your cache files : Free Ccleaner
Ignore the Registry feature of Ccleaner as it is not recommended or needed. To avoid clearing any minidumps logs, uncheck the minidump box under Windows - System
Download Adwcleaner by Xplode from here.
Click on Adwcleaner and hit the Scan button and will begin to search for PUP and malicious files. Once finished click the Delete/Clean button. Copy and paste the log on your next reply.

Scan for Malware using free Malwarebytes
Install then run a quick scan only after updating to the latest definition.Uncheck the trial pro version on setup and remove any found threats after running the scan. Please post also the result.
Download and install freeSuperantispyware- follow the prompts and complete the update then run a quick scan and remove threats. Post the logs after completed.

Download JRT by thisisu from this link.
Make sure to disable your antivirus or any running protection softwares before running JRT to avoid interferences.
For Vista and Windows 7, right-click and Run as Administrator. In XP, double click JRT icon.
Please be patient and let the program finish scanning.
Once finish, a text document will open then copy-paste it on your next reply.

No it's not a newly reinstalled Windows Vista. The correct and latest drivers?    No, I don't know how to do this.  Was there a previous antivirus installed? I am not sure I understand this question.

Ok. Please post the complete computer model next time. It looks to be a Dell Studio XPS?

:exclame: Remove outdated Java as it imposed security vulnerability to remote attacks.

:exclame: Update your Internet Explorer version also from this link

I have followed all the instructions but  I am still getting  a BSOD,  the computer turns off and then it reboots normally and I am able to get back online. The interesting thing is that this happens only when I am on Facebook via the Firefox browser!!

Try installing the Intel LAN driver http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/product/studio-xps-435 Intel 825xx Gigabit LAN 9.52.9.0

Reinstall the Video card driver also. Download the video driver then completely remove the Radeon 4670 drivers by Add or Remove Programs and or Device Manager. When installing, see if there is a custom/clean install feature and run the installer.

Is Norton protection software a trial version?

Usual causes:  Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus,  Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS

Ok, Let's start with the drivers and antivirus installed.

I tried to  install the Intel LAN driver http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/product/studio-xps-435 Intel 825xx Gigabit LAN 9.52.9.0. It didn't download.....just keep showing "download in progress" but nothing happens!

I can't  find the Radeon 4670 drivers via Add or Remove Programs and or Device Manager.

Can you download it from a different working computer then transfer and copy it on the troubled PC?

Is Norton protection software a trial version?
