Hey I recently had problems with iworm_attck_v122.02a and ran smitrem and it seems to have removed the problem so far. The taskbar icon disappeared and havent had many pop ups, however I have a differnt virus icon as well in my taskbar. It is a green icon with a flashing red circle like a no smoking sign. I dont know how to identify this virus to remove it. I ran a hijack this and have my log perhaps you can identify the problem and also see if I need to fix anything else for the iworm_attck_v122.02a. Thank You for your help.

Hello,

Smitrem hasn't been updated for a while now, and that explains why there are still leftovers present.
We use another tool now, so perform next instructions.

It's better to print out the next instructions or save them in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then.
It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!

* Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
Don't use it yet.

* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following if still present:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://F:\DOCUME~1\stephen\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.dll/sp.html
O2 - BHO: Nothing - {b0398eca-0bcd-4645-8261-5e9dc70248d0} - F:\WINDOWS\System32\hpC854.tmp (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {C4069E3A-68F1-403E-B40E-20066696354B} - F:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra button: EmpirePoker - {77E68763-4284-41d6-B7E7-B6E1F053A9E7} - F:\Program Files\EmpirePoker\EmpirePoker.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: EmpirePoker - {77E68763-4284-41d6-B7E7-B6E1F053A9E7} - F:\Program Files\EmpirePoker\EmpirePoker.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - F:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - F:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (file missing)
O16 - DPF: {F919FBD3-A96B-4679-AF26-F551439BB5FD} - http://www.systemdoctor.com/download/2006/...FreeInstall.cab

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

* Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; I need that log afterwards.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Update your Sun Java:
Updating Java via Controlpanel:
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Java Icon (coffee cup) in the Control Panel.
  • It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon.
(If you can't find the Java Icon, click 'Other Control Panel Options' in the leftpane first)
  • Please find the update button or tab in the Java Control Panel. Update your Java then reboot.
Post a new hijackthislog together with the log from smitfraudfix in your next reply. :flowers:
