Hi there everyone!

I came across your forum while searching for information on the cryptolock virus (which has proven to be an absolute curse of a thing!) and I really enjoyed the help and information that i was reading being given on the topic.

I found yourselves very thurough and helpful to everyone (to the best to your abilities - the nature of that virus is unreal) and thought I would join the community.

Hopefully I can help with things as much as I can, (im new to the business, recent Computer Science Graduate, and now a Network Engineer) obviously im still learning the trade, and im doing my best to absorb as much information as i possibly can while doing so.

I'm sure i will learn alot from yourselves and look forward to getting to know you all.

Happy Troubleshooting folks!

Hi have never been a member of any sort of forum before so hope i'm doing things right?!
i'm desperately looking for help, I'm a domestic computer user who's computer has been infected by cryptolocker -well according to a local pc repair shop.
have lost 10 years worth of family photos which include the first photos of my two daughters and all of our holidays!!! I am devastated.
have been searching for a magic wand to solve this, and so far haven't recieved a ransom demand so don't even have this option, does anyone have, looking for a miracle.
I did back everything up to a seperate hd but as this was connected all photos on this have also been infected.
open to any suggestions, read that volume shadow might work?
also been told that one bright day in the future a decryption programme will be devised to unlock this hell, is this feasible or just wishful thinking, is it worth sending to a specialist recovery firm,
hope you can help
cheers
