My laptop a few days ago just started showing an explorer.exe - application error message when shutting down.

The error reads as follows:

explorer.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x00000000 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written.

Click on OK to terminate the program.

I never click on ok as the laptop just shuts down itself anyway.

Very frustrating.
