I have a compaq presario cq56-115dx notebook and when I turn on my laptop, it acts as if its going to start and then the screen goes black, and it does nothing else. I've tried repairing to and earlier start date and still does the same thing, I'm using windows 7, please help

First things first.  Go into the BIOS and see if there is a hard drive diagnostic.  You should be able to press F10 when you turn it on.  Let the machine run the full diagnostic.

Why is my screen black when I start Windows 7?

Video adapter problems are the most common cause of this issue.
