Ah well, after being the one who has been compiling security tips, and circulating them...went from 1 to many pages of suggestions about computer and Internet security...I just got "bitten" by my own carelessness, and failure to take my own advice:  I got scammed by the phony "condolences/funeral notice" email scam. I must have lost my mind for a moment, because I clicked the damned thing and proceeded to become an email spammer myself.

I've run MAMB & adwcleaner & even combo-fix and I thought I was OK, but the background email via Thunderbird has started up again; so I really need your help. Maybe I didn't run things in the right order. I'm not sure, so I will post a request in the appropriate forum section.

In advance, I thank my fellow geeks for your generous help...and your understanding that anyone can "lose it", occasionally, make a foolish move...and get caught by the evil hackers and spammers out there!

Hey there Olen and welcome to Bleeping Computer. :welcome:

As you made mention, almost any one of us can "lose it" and click on the wrong thing or make a foolish move.

Thankfully the good folks here at Bleeping Computer can also help us find our way back.

See you in the Forums.

Every calculation based on experience elsewhere fails in New Mexico.
