Hello!

       I'm new to these forums so go easy on me, ok so I installed avast and now when I try and get it to start.  This is the error I get, I have reinstalled and used the cleaner.  But i just can't get it to go.

Here is the list of antiviruses I have/had.

Norton - Removed and then used a cleaner to completely remove it

MSE - Used a cleaner to get rid of the rest after uninstalling

Spybot - Still have installed

Superantispyware - Still have installed

MBAM - Still have installed

Comodo firewall - Still have installed

This is the side by side error on event viewer, one more weird thing... The first time i installed avast, well i start installing it and walked off because it was taking awhile.... Then when I came back my computer was at my pre boot authentication screen, (I have true crypt to every time you restart you have to enter the password) then after i entered in the password I go to the screen were its.  Unexpected shutdown occurred or something like that, so I choose start windows normally then everything is back to normal.. But it looks like it shut off in the middle of the avast install? Weird?  I have been trying to fix this for awhile making me mad.  I have done a lot of research and it might be something to do with the c++ libraries? I only have the 2008 ones right now.. I think

Well thanks in advance!

This issue is not uncommon with avast! and there is an alternate method for removal and reinstall. Follow these instructions for using an additional remover and different (online) installer:

1. Download Avastclear, Rejzors Uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition to your Desktop.

* avast! uninstall utility (avastclear.exe)
* RejZor's avast Uninstall tool (avast-cleanup-tool)

* avast_free_antivirus_setup_online.exe
* avast_pro_antivirus_setup_online.exe
* avast_internet_security_setup_online.exe
* avast_premier_antivirus_setup_online.exe

Important Note: You need to be ONLINE during this installation.

2. Uninstall Avast by Control Panel. If you don't have Avast listed in Control Panel, go to Step #4.
3. Uninstall in Safe Mode using Avastclear.
4. Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode to removes traces avastclear does not find...then reboot.
5. Once uninstalled, open Device Manager > View > Show Hidden devices and check for anything related to avast with a yellow triangle. If so, uninstall it and reboot the computer.
6. Install the avast! setup version you downloaded to your Desktop.
7. Reboot when finished.
