How do you get Combofix to work with Windows 8.1? No matter what I try I get the message "Combofix does not work in compatibility mode."

Edit: Moved topic from Windows 8 to the more appropriate forum.~ Animal

The 'Compatibility Mode' message is intentional by design when attempting to run ComboFix on Windows 8.1.

sUBs has recently advised that he is holding off releasing any working version of his tools for Windows 8.1 which includes both ComboFix and DDS. Meaning he is fully aware of the compatibility issue but needs time for thorough testing to ensure it works safely on that OS.

What type of malware issues are you dealing with?

If you need individual assistance with malware infection, you can start a new topic in the Am I infected? What do I do? forum or follow the instructions provided in the Preparation Guide For Requesting Help.

If you are aware of problems and the way to remove the problems, then see =>

Supplementing your Anti-Virus Program with Anti-Malware Tools There are many Free and  Paid  programs available for you.

Combo Fix was not designed as a daily scanner for your system, and has often caused severe problems itself.

Often programs should only be used when needed and for specific diagnosed infections.

Thanks -

It's not so much that ComboFix is dangerous, but that it is a powerful and complex tool. However in untrained hands, using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system.
