I am about to lose it. I was having problems connecting to my synology server and I also had problems with files and folders becoming 'hidden' and/or 'archived'. There was and still is a huge lag when I click on my network places and synology shared folders. So I went over this with Dell (gold) support and they suggested a reinstallation of windows. I went ahead and repartitioned and reformatted the harddrive. Windows has been reinstalled and I've loaded up software from CD's such as Office, Adobe pro x1 and so on. The only programs I downloaded and installed I got off of Bleeping computers (i.e. Revo uninstaller, MBAM (paid version), the exception actually is Filezilla, and I went to their site and stayed away from CNET.

So I'm having the same problems again and I run MBAW and find I have this Optional.InstallCore A malware. See below for the MBAW log.

I am close to throwing this computer out.

===

Please download and run this DDS Scanning Tool. Nothing will be deleted. It will just give me some additional information about your system.

Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links, if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.

1: DDS.scr (Not recommended if you use Chrome to download this .scr file. Use the other options.)
2: DDS.pif
3: DDS.COM

Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
Notepad will open with the results.
Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.

Thanks nasdaq,

Below are the logs I've copied and pasted the contents of. However, I noticed that I was running a virus scan on my synology diskstation 1812 (called antivirus essentials) and it found on one of my volumes this: "win.trojan.downloader-52355" in a time machine backup folder called "wd_windows_tools\googledesktop"

I looked at other locations where I've backedup or copied files and found the same folders...however it won't allow me to delete it.

I'm thinking my NAS server needs to be cleaned too. can bleepingcomputer help me with my linux server?

When I opened firefox, it said you are trying to connect to a unsecured sitie, which was yahoo homepage. I closed that out, and restarted it, and It went away. Not sure why that happened.

The is an option in Enternet Explorer were you can be informed if leaving a secure site.
It's under Tools > Internet Options > General tab.

Also in the above scan you had me run it says flash player is out of date. I checked Adobe website, and It says I have the current flash payer installed. Thanks again for your time and patience.

The Security Tool needs to be updated. You are good.

This is the GoogleDesktop installer. Nothing to worry about.

Please post the DDS.txt log that was created when you executed the DDS tool.

I think someone else's  issue is co-mingled with mine. I didn't have an issue with Firefox: Below is the DDS log, sorry I pasted the wrong text file:

Your DDS log is clean.
What is the current problem with this computer?

Download Security Check by screen317 from here.
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.
p.s.
If the SecurityCheck program fails to run for any reason, run it as an Administrator.

Seems odd to me that I have 26% fragmentation on my C drive, I just  formatted this a week ago. This Security Check program did the same thing when I was asked to run it before.

Thanks once again
