I am using the latest version of Chrome, I opened Chrome the other week  and I had a message saying that my preferences could not be found ( or something along those lines, sorry can't be more precise) so I reinstalled extensions and plugins, and altered my settings.

I thought this was odd so ran Malwarebytes, then AdwCleaner and JRT, nothing was found in Chrome but  AdwCleaner  found something in Firefox and IE explorer ( I don't use these) I cleaned, rebooted, ran all 3 again and the system came up clean.

Now everytime I use CCleaner I get the same message when opening Chrome, so something's wrong, settings haven't been altered in CCleaner either. Any help appreciated as I can't keep on reinstalling extensions plugins, settings etc.

I have the same issue, my settings are null until I sign into Chrome.  The issue began for me when I deleted some settings files - trying to fix an extension.  I've even reinstalled Chrome but the issue persists; it's annoying, but I can deal with it.
