I am new to this kind of help and am not a novice computer user but by no means a professional. However, my problem is that when my email host send email to my server the connection on port 25 enters a TIME_WAIT state and the connection is lost. I don't know how to overcome this issue. Any suggestions?

It is probably not listening on port 25.  Is it open in the firewall.

From a pc inside and outside the lan, go to a cmd prompt and type telnet server_IP 25 and press enter

the server should reply with "some mail looking stuff" :)
