My computer is bleeped to crap, and I have to wipe everything out. And do a reinstall, I am also going to add another gig or two of ram, I have an intelX955XBK board. with four ram slots two of them have 512 chips and 533mhz and I have upgraded to a ATI X850 video card. I was thinking of putting in two more gig chips to give me 3 gig of ram, but the gentleman at the computer repair place said that Unless it is Windows64 or Vista, the PC won't read anything more then two gig, so he reccommends putting in another two 512 ram chip, giving me 4 Chip all at 512mb.

Also, I believe this board is takes 240 pin ram chips, I thought it came with ddr3, but the guys at the store both say it would be ddr2, I am not that much of an expert. But I just wanted to see what you guys thought. Also after I reinstall, what is the best antivirus on the market,

There is a 4 gB limit is for paging files on XP ( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;237740 )

But I'm not aware of any RAM limitations on XP other than the 4 gB limit imposed by the OS (2 gB for the "kernel" and 2 gB for applications).
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
