Apple software is all proprietary...

that's what you pay for. Apple only... no 3rd party apps, untaxed...

if it's not in the Apple store it doesn't exist.

I don't really understand what you are looking for.

Are you looking for Shazam (or something similar) on the Mac?

Shazam does make an app for the Mac. If you do a Google search for Shazam for Mac, you wil likely find alternatives but from my brief searching, it seems none of the alternative matchup real well.

So, your best option is to likely just use Shazam on a iOS or Android device to find the song and then buy it in iTunes. If you are using it on an iOS device, then it will usually give a direct link to it in iTunes on your iOS device so that you can purchase it there. If you then either sync your iOS device with iTunes on your Mac or you turn on automatic music downloads in iTunes on your Mac, you will the automatically get it on your Mac as well. Or you can manually download it from your purchased section of your iTunes account.
