My HP pavilion HPE (beats audio) $900 computer, for the second time in less than a month, froze up, upon booting up. Just stays on windows logo. so had to do a hard shut down, then re start. (and all was okay)  any suggestions. This computer has been returned 4 times in the past year, for problems, I/e bad fan, defective hard drive, won't connect to wifi, etc. what a piece of junk !!

So obviously restarts aren't helping you..

One or two of your Windows Files might be broken and fixing them is called doing a Startup Repair. When a computer boots incorrectly the best first step to do is a Last Kown Good Configuration.

You will find this page a help:

I don't always use Internet Explorer, but when I do, it's to download a different browser.

Can you boot into Safe Mode?

Does it only freeze on startups?

Only when it goes to the windows 7 start up logo, the logo will just stay on, and won't finish booting up. Only way to get it to respond, is a hard power down, and then re boot, and all is okay.. Have not tried safe mode yet

Boot into Safe Mode and let us know if the problem persists when starting.
