Hi

I have received a (TOP TIP) or so I am being told but before I go ahead with anything I think I better check this out as I am not the that confident with a PC,

this is the following message:

find a strange looking key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft

EXAMPLE

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ `nk)a0 ]
"7d7b96c8e3280294"=hex(:thumbsup::98,00,6a,4a,e8,fe,b5,a1

the values are different for every PC !!!!

Change it to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ `nk)a0 ]
"7d7b96c8e3280294"=hex(:flowers::

(zero-length binary value in regedit)

You have Region Free DVD Player and for Audio

AUDIO MODES:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\InterVideo\WinDVD]
"AUDIO"=dword:00000006 SP_DIFF

00000000 - Mono
00000001 - Stereo
00000002 - Dolby Surround
00000003 - 3D Audio
00000004 - 4 Speakers
00000005 - 5.1 Speakers
00000006 - SP_DIFF
00000007 - HeadPhones

Can someone please advise and if this is spam pass the message arond as others must have picked up this message also. Cheers Brian

I'd delete that message and forget about it. :thumbsup:
Just the audio portion of that reg setting would require you have Intervideo's WinDVD installed.
Don't know what's up with the garbage at the top but I've never personally seen any obscure keys like that in that portion of the reg.
If you want to make your DVD player region free, there's plenty of freeware apps out there that will do it.
