I have a Compaq Presario desktop. About a week ago the computer quit recognizing keystrokes. There is a click when I press a key but no character recognition. I suspect its some sort of malware or virus. I have run malwarebytes and avg software to no avail. I have tried to run system restore but get an error message preventing it from restoring the earlier set points. Also, when I try to put a search string in the Start menu the magnifying glass turns into an "X".

Help !!

Hi jerrialan.

You kind of answered this one yourself. If you suspect a virus or malware has compromised your system you should post in the appropriate forum and wait for help from a member of the Malware Response Team. Visit and read this thread: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/182397/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do-how-do-i-get-help-who-is-helping-me/
