I am having the same problem on starting up the computer. However, when I enter a key to stop it, start up does not continue, I get a black screen and nothing else happens. Is there a way to correct the problem when I can't get to the start menu? I have just tried starting the computer in safe mode and it stalled during the process. Bottom left of the screen says please wait...

Have you tried using the installation CD and selecting repair my computer? You didn't give any specs on your hardware of software so this is just a wild guess.
