Connecting To Shared Files On Network -- Problem

Hey, My family just bought a new computer and we hooked it up to the internet and got all the updates etc.

Our old computer can access the shared files on the new computer, but the new computer can't access the old computer

Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

windows 98 on the old computer and windows xp on the new one right?
