I have Office 2007 which came with the emachines laptop as a starter and has expired. That means when I open Word it tries to open Word 2007 and it never works right. Want to uninstall it now and use my old Word 2000 and Excel 2000. But I cannot find the right program to uninstall. Where the heck is it? Here is a screen shot from Revouninstaller which shows the Microsoft area and I do not see it. Is it called Office or what? Where is it; also does not show up in the standard Win7 uninstall program. Stumped.

Help.

I'm not clear what file you're asking about. Have you followed any of the steps given in the link - use the Fixit, the Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter, or the manual uninstall?

You know that you can install both versions side by side with no problems.  Personally I would stick with Office 2k7, since Office 2000 is no longer supported by Microsoft.  If you do not want Office, there is always Libre Office.

I cannot follow any steps to install or fix or uninstall because I cannot find the Office 2007 icon. Take a look at my attachment. It is not there. I cannot stick with Office 2k7 because I do not own it and it does not work. And I do not want to purchase it.

There is no attached screenshot. Did you try the fixit without any result? Did you try "Fix the problem automatically" with the troubleshooter? Have you considered simply ignoring the expired suite as Greg mentions, and installing an alternative? An old application like Office 2000 will give you poor document format handling though.

How do you open word? Is it a shortcut? How about right clicking the shortcut go to properties

and look at the target location.

Open from a shortcut and target says merely Microsoft Office Home and Student; does not give a location.

Try this Start>computer>open c:>program files>Microsoft office

Is it there? if not Id just delete that "shortcut " and call it good.

Most computers will come with a Application installer program.  See if Microsoft Office Starter is listed in there, and install it.  Then when it is installed, you should be able to uninstall.  Now of course, if it is anything like the old Toshiba Satellite 1805-S204 I just spent a month working on, I could not uninstall through automated means SmartSuite 9.5.

I had to manually go in and delete directories, Registry Entries, before I could get it off of that old machine.  The default install location, would just come up with the number 1, when you went to try and do a automated uninstall.

Now of course, there have been some known to go and download the .iso for Office starter, from Microsoft's Digital River site, burn to a CD-Rom or DVD, and use that for uninstalling.

The screenshot would not work because it is too big - over 71KB - so I cannot show you what shows up as files in Uninstaller - but I do not see Office 2007 listed. I did a search for Microsoft Office Starter and it does not show up either.

I tried to set Word 2000 as default for some types of files like .doc and .docx but the result was that my Word files would not open at all. Must not have done it correctly. So I used System Restore and took it back. If I could just make Word 2000 the total default program that would work but I am not sure how to do it either.
