Hey, i have been using my surface 2 very heavily since i purchased it, but i always find myself having to RDP into my desktop to run the odd java app.

I understand that java is a dying standard, however, it isnt gone yet. Im also quite aware that surface is an ARM based machine and can only run software signed by microsoft, but, lets assume that limitation is off. Would it be feasible to recompile jre for arm in windows? This would be quite the project i assume, but i would be willing.

You may have misunderstood. The Java language is fine:
