Installing Avast Antivir

Hi,Today I decided to install Avast antivirus.At the moment I have MSE install windows 7.

Un installed the MSE  then did an install of the Avast all went well until the end on the instalation when a box came on screen with a warning,Can someone Please assist me here as I went back to the MSE.

Well...it seems that you did not uninstall MSE...since that box reflects MSE as the source/subject of the message.

I used the microsoft MSE uninstaller to do the job.Maybe I should have used Revo to uninstall.

Will have another go later.

I looked in the Revo uninstaller the MSE don't show up there would it be bast to uninstall from programs and features??

Most security apps need to be uninstalled with an uninstall tool and MSE is no different. You can download the tool right here at BC.

If that still doesn't do the trick check this Micro$oft KB (knowledge base) article which contains a "Fix-it" and also "let me do it myself" instrux.

M$ KB2483120 - Manually uninstall MSE if you cannot uninstall it by using Add/Remove Programs

 

EDIT TO ADD: I just went to the bleepin' download page: the MSE removal tool frankp referenced IS the Microsoft "Fixit" described in the KB article I linked to. :unsure:
